MGX® Day’s in – The Bay (Levi Stadium) Feb. 14 & 15th, 2015 What a FANTASTIC weekend!!!! Sat and Sun saw perfect weather and some great riding for the first time gymkhana riders! A nice group came out and rode on both days: Ted, Brandon, Vinh, Adam, Kevin, Steven, Dennis and James just to name a few. Four different courses (2) Sat and (2) Sun with Concentric Circles and F8 and a follow the leader challenge on Sunday to close the weekend. Saturday’s courses were basic novice courses just to get the riders accustomed to the cones and rules with just enough to make it a little challenging. Sundays courses stepped up the speed and challenge to those who returned, with a pyramid section on Course 1 and a 3 fingers section on Course 2. Those who came on both days saw major improvement with their throttle control, speed and lean angle. Ted, who was only able to make it on Sat rode consistently all day on a dual-sport with knobbies! Dennis on the “Harley-hybrid” was scrappin hard parts the entire weekend throwing the big bike all over the course with loads of confidence, saw some improvement as well keeping his hands off the clutch and using the grunt of the motor; even had an opportunity to go on course with a pillion as well! Kevin, who said he actually “discovered his rear brake” for the first time, showed massive improvement from Saturday to Sunday and on Sat Course 1 showed 3 seconds of improvement by day’s end; rotation turns were much smoother and tighter on Sunday. Steven, who came on a dual sport on Saturday and rode well, showed up Sunday on a borrowed SV650 and concentrated on using throttle control and rear brake only to smooth out his acceleration, brake deeper and get the bike leaned over more on his transitions from left to right. Adam, on the old-school Ninja rode smoothly and consistently all weekend. What will help in March for all the riders is their “vision”… Getting not only their eyes, but also their heads turned to the next obstacle will help improve over-all times by getting the riders to pick up the throttle earlier and more progressively. We were so happy to see the level of interest and enthusiasm in this great sport and excited to have to opportunity get up north finally and bring some motogymkhana riding to The Bay area. We really look forward to getting out to Levi Stadium in March, once again, on the 14 & 15th for two more days of M Gymkhana® fun! Depending on the level of interest, we may even run a M Gymkhana® Competition on Sunday! Stay tuned for updates! Below are some pics of this past weekend. Check on youtube for video as well.
The 2015 Season got off to a fantastic start with a gorgeous day for M Gymkhana! The first event of the year was this past Saturday in Gardena, CA. The weather was perfect, the tarmac was grippy and the riding was smooth. Save for an electrical bug for one of the returning riders from the 2014 season, all went well and everyone keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up except for one little bike drop (not on corse or at speed, lol). We got several new visiting cagers come by to check us out and are looking forward to coming by the next event on two-wheels instead of four.
